Nginha Ngumbaadyil (In This Place)
A new work has emerged from the heart of Orange — Nginha Ngumbaadyil (In This Place), composed by Australian composer Dan Walker and translated into Wiradjuri by Tammy Wilson.
Commissioned by the Orange Regional Conservatorium and proudly funded by the Orange Regional Arts Foundation, this project brings together artistry, culture, and community in a moving celebration of connection and belonging.
Dan Walker spent time in Orange working closely with the Wula Gurray children, listening to their stories about who they are, where they come from, and what being part of Wula Gurray means to them. From these conversations, a powerful piece of music was created, one that reflects identity, pride, and unity.
Nginha Ngumbaadyil is more than a song; it is a reflection of place, culture, and the voices of the next generation.
Recorded by Dotted Eight Studio

This piece stands as a celebration of culture, voice, and community, and we are incredibly proud of our Wula Gurray Choir for bringing it to life with such heart and authenticity.
