Group Lessons
Learning in a group is a social and affordable way to begin learning an instrument or singing. We offer a variety of weekly classes to get kids started on their musical journey.
Orange Regional Conservatorium provides an open, welcoming and safe environment for everyone participating in our programs. We seek advice and guidance from children, parents and colleagues to ensure Working With Children standards are maintained. All ORC staff, volunteers and Board have appropriate Working With Children Checks.
miniMusos
The Perfect Pathway into Music for Young Beginners.
MiniMUSOS is our pathway into learning an instrument and singing for young beginners. the miniMUSOS will sing in groups while learning a new instrument each term in this year long program. They learn fundamental music-making skills that will make transitioning to individual lessons and ensembles smooth and rewarding.
Little Singers
Tuesday 5:30pm – 6:15pm | Wednesday 3:45 – 4:30pm | Thursday 3:45 – 4:30pm | $105 per term
Little Singers classes are an introduction to singing lessons in a small groups, for kids 5-10 years of age. Participants will learn the fundamentals of music performance and theory through songs, games and activities. Little Singers students are soon ready move into individual lessons and choirs.
Ukulele Group Class
Tuesday 5pm - 5:30pm | $105 per term
Local legend Stephen Somerville teaches kid to play the use in a light-hearted, slightly kooky weekly half-hour session! Learn the basics of chords, notes, strumming and reading music with fun singalongs and more! This class is a great introduction to young learners aged between 4-6, and is a perfect precursor to guitar lessons.
Beginner Violin
Tuesday 3:45pm – 4:30pm | $105 per term
Lisa Stewart (Acacia Quartet) and Carmel Follent lead a group of enthusiastic young violinists through the fundamentals of music making using the influential Suzuki Method. Lisa and Carmel’s enthusiasm and energy for Early Childhood Music Education is never ending! Perfect for kids aged 4-8 (and parents are welcome to learn too!).
Beginner Keyboard classes
Thursday 3:30pm, 4pm, 4:30pm & 5pm | $160 per term (limited to 4 students per class)
A great way for young kids to start their journey on the piano! These classes are a great way to pick up the basics of readying music and piano skills. The perfect introduction to the instrument before starting individual lessons.
pBuzz
Thursday 5pm | $75 per term
The brightly coloured pBuzz is a perfect introduction to any brass instrument. It has been designed especially for young musicians’ hands with its smooth edges, larger mouthpiece and light weight; they can enjoy making music straight away.
For students in Years 1 or 2 who are thinking of learning a brass instrument in Year 3 it is the perfect opportunity to have a try to see if it’s for them.
Kids will learn the very basics of brass playing and also basic skills in music reading. pBuzz will encourage their creativity, build their confidence in producing a sound and begin to nurture their natural musical talents, all while having great fun. Each pBuzz course runs for 2 terms, please register your interest for the next course.
