Choirs

The joy of singing in a choir is undeniable. It’s also one of the easiest and most accessible ways to become involved in community music making. The ORC offers a wide range of choral experiences, from beginner to advanced, relaxed community groups through to Symphonic ensembles. We even have choirs for kids as young as 3!

Our choirs and singers perform regularly, both here and in the community. They are also given inspiring opportunities through our connections with Musica Viva Australia, Sydney Philharmonic Choirs, and many other partner organisations.

While there is focus on fine tuning a cohesive vocal blend, there is also the aim to highlight each singer’s individuality and embrace their own unique sound. Counterpoint is a wonderful opportunity for young vocalists to improve their sight singing skills, develop skills in different contemporary musical styles and explore performance aspects including movement (or “choralography”) and microphone technique.
