In Her Voice

  • Orange Regional Conservatorium 73a Hill Street Orange, NSW, 2800 Australia (map)

In Her Voice is a powerful and intimate concert celebrating women’s voices across centuries, communities, and musical traditions.

At its heart is Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, a 45-minute masterpiece of profound beauty and emotional depth. Written in the final weeks of the composer’s life, this work explores grief, compassion, and resilience through music of extraordinary tenderness. For this performance, the Stabat Mater becomes a shared act of music-making, with local community women to join in the singing, placing lived female experience at the centre of the work. This work will be conducted by Gabriel Rae.

The program opens with four choral works by female composers, two performed by Orange Regional Conservatorium’s Caesura and two by Cantar Community Choir, offering contemporary and historic perspectives that frame the evening with warmth, strength, and reflection.

Presented in celebration of International Women’s Day, In Her Voice honours women as creators, interpreters, and carriers of musical tradition, amplifying the power of collective voice and shared storytelling.
