Resonance Program
The Orange Regional Conservatorium is excited to announce our new ‘Resonance’ Program. Our most advanced students audition on to this program and are put through training by our experienced staff and perform at events from weddings to high tea. This is an excellent opportunity for advanced students to gain real-life gig performance experience and get paid!
Selection criteria
Students must be a currently enrolled ORC student (individual lessons or ensembles). Interested students must submit an Expression of Interest form and will be auditioned by the Program Leader. The Resonance Program is currently accepting Expressions of Interest for the following instruments:
String Quartet (violin, viola, cello)
In the future, the program is also looking to fill:
Band (vocalist, keyboard, drums, electric guitar)
Solo sets (vocalists)
If you sing or play one of the above instruments, please submit an Expression of Interest form to be considered when the positions open.
Training
After auditions are held, there will be a mandatory 2-hour (unpaid) training session for successful students to attend. During this session the Program Leader will discuss gig etiquette (dress, behaviour, punctuality, music preparation etc.). There will also be a short rehearsal, so students get used to playing with their group.
Gigs
From weddings, funerals and other events, students will perform in a wide variety of venues in Orange and the surrounds. The Program Leader will accompany students at gigs to provide duty of care. The Program Leader will also be the liaison between students, the ORC, and the client.
Due to the fluid nature of gig requests, there is no guarantee of work.
Auditions
Auditions are held twice a year, at the beginning of Term 1 and Term 3. Students must perform:
· Own choice piece (unaccompanied, 5 mins)
· Prepared excerpt (given to students 1 week before their audition)
· Sightreading
Community service
Students on the Resonance program will be expected to occasionally (1-2 times per semester) perform and give back to the community with no payment. This may include performances at aged care homes or ORC community-facing events. These performances will be no longer than an hour, and students will be notified in advance.
Payment
Students will be paid $90 per 3-hour call (+ super for students over 18 years old). Full payment details will be provided to students who have successfully auditioned on to the program.
Students must provide the ORC admin office with all appropriate paperwork (ATO supplier statement, bank and super details etc.).

Please contact the Resonance Program Leader, Stephanie Li with any questions.
