BEN LEE

  • Orange Regional Conservatorium 73a Hill Street Orange, NSW, 2800 Australia (map)

Presented by Great Southern Nights & Craft Music

Discovered in his teens during the 90s as part of the Aussie lofi punk act Noise Addict, Bee Lee's prolific career has been nothing short of astonishing. Turning his gaze to a solo career in the mid 90s, Ben Lee has established himself as one of Australia's bona fide finest, whether penning chart-smashing hits (Cigarettes Will Kill You, Gamble Everything For Love and Catch My Disease), instrumental albums (Ayahuasca: Welcome to the Work) or children's albums (Ben Lee Sings Songs About Islam For The Whole Family).

Entertaining and unpredictable, Ben Lee has won four ARIA Awards along with multiple nominations, prime time performances, including at the 2006 Commonwealth Games closing ceremony and on Australia's The Masked Singer, and he continues to tour extensively after decades of wowing crowds across the world.

Supporting Ben Lee is Katie Thorne.

Born and raised in the red dirt of rural NSW (Wiradjuri Country), Katie Thorne is an independent singer-songwriter and guitarist whose sound is a mix of smokey old-soul/RnB à la Norah Jones and Amy Winehouse, with a modern-pop edge.

Katie has released two original projects so far - the first EP ‘Wine Drunk’ from late 2022, is a flirtatious, jazz-affected pop debut several years (and heartbreaks) in the making. Her second EP released in March of 2024, is titled ’TWENTY SOMETHING SINGLE IN THE CITY’, an open letter to the chaos of your twenties, featuring some of her most vulnerable songwriting to date.
