Cooper Singt Kabarett Concert
Nov 8 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Tickets on Sale Now

Throw off the shackles of everyday existence, grab yourself a glass of Sekt and settle in as Brad Cooper takes you on a riotous journey back to the heady world of interwar Kabarett.

From the wartime spirit of Novello, the hilarity of the Comedian Harmonists via the tumult of Kurt Weill & Hans Eisler’s Berlin, the Golden Age of Lehár & Stolz’s Vienna, the passion of Piaf & Brel’s Paris, to the witty irreverence of today, KABARETT is a celebration of wild electric decadence and dangerously dark humour.

Brad studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, National Opera Studio, London and with Marilyn Horne at the Music Academy of the West, California.

“Throughout the concert, Acacia Quartet performed so well that at times they seem like only one instrument, such is their clarity and unison. The colours they bring out of music ranges from deathly quiet to intensely dynamic. It’s always such a pleasure listening to them.” — Rob Kennedy for City News Canberra, August 2018

Chamber Music Series Concert 1 - Music for Seven Hands @ Orange Regional Conservatorium | Orange | New South Wales | Australia

2020 Chamber Music Series

Combining our love of education and performance.

In 2019, our annual Chamber Music Series tried something a little different. In the lead up to each concert the musicians visited local schools to demonstrate their instruments, perform selections of works and inspire young minds. After such a successful trial run we are pleased to offer this program again in 2020.

The professional musicians and teachers of the ORC are our greatest asset and invariably this series showcases just how talented and diverse they are. As always, there will be music from the greatest composers of all time, challenging modern works and original compositions.

Join us for these relaxed Friday evening concerts, the perfect way to wind down the week.

Although it has been a difficult decision, we have decided to cancel the upcoming 5,6,7,8 concert in the interest of the safety of students, staff, audience and community members.

Songs from the greatest Musicals of all time performed by the students & ensembles of the Orange Regional Conservatorium.

We can all name a song from West Side Story or The Sound of Music or Jesus Christ Superstar. Musicals have given us some of the greatest music of all time, now it’s time for us to celebrate the ‘music’ that makes the Musical .

Each year the students, choirs and ensembles of the Orange Regional Conservatorium join forces to present a themed concert. 2018’s ‘Beatlemania’ and last year’s ‘That 70’s Concert’ were huge, sellout events and this year ‘5,6,7,8!’ will be no different.

Lior & Tinalley String Quartet – CANCELLED
May 6 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Lior & Tinalley String Quartet - CANCELLED @ Orange Regional Conservatorium | Orange | New South Wales | Australia

Lior & Tinalley String Quartet – CANCELLED

Through Nature to Eternity featuring Lior and Tinalley String Quartet.

Presented in association with Musica Viva Australia.

Doors open 6pm, performance begins at 6:30pm.

Singer/songwriter, Lior is renowned for his beautiful voice and lyrics that radiate truth and sincerity, and as the world searches for compassion and understanding, the importance of music as a means of communication cannot be undervalued. In this musical narrative of love, loss and compassion, Tinalley and Lior perform a new song cycle by Melbourne composer, Ade Vincent. Three of Dvorak’s rousing love songs from his collection of Cypresses; echoes of love cherished, tormented and forgotten, are paired with Barber’s haunting ‘Adagio’ from his String Quartet Opus 11 and Lior’s achingly haunting ‘My Grandfather’. In a final quest for peace, Lior and Nigel Westlake reimagine Sim Shalom (Grant Peace) from ‘Compassion’, merging the symphonic world with that of the string quartet.

Ravel’s effusive String Quartet opens the program. Critics and public alike rejected the quartet when it was first performed, and yet now it is one of the genres most beloved works. At times wistful and at other times melancholic, even devastating; the work is in itself a reminder of the changeable nature of public sentiment.

“A damn-near-perfect display of incisive and thoughtful music-making.” – Limelight Magazine

Caribé - CANCELLED @ Orange Regional Conservatorium | Orange | New South Wales | Australia
Caribé presents Havana Return, por favor – CANCELLED

“Rhythm is the spine and it is this heartbeat pulsing through everything”–Adrian Medina “Gai Bryant is one of the brightest lights in the local jazz scene.”– Financial Review “Lee McIver can successfully cross genres and yet also manage to remain refreshingly original”– Barry O’Sullivan Jazz and Beyond

Through a lens both retrospective and current, Caribe’s ‘Havana Return, por favor’ shares recollections of a first-generation Cuban migrant returning home after many years in Australia. This striking and varied stage production with its steamy Caribbean rhythms will transport the audience straight to the heart of Cuba.

Cuban dancer Adrian Medina exudes elegance, exoticism and Cubanissimo against a backdrop of archival footage from 70s and 80s Cuba accompanied by an 8-piece band. The culmination of this blend of skills is a unique stage performance, making the show a memorable experience. As Master of Ceremonies, Medina keeps up a narrative between the musical numbers, filling in the historical background with juicy anecdotes and humour. This is followed by a set of social dancing.

The group sound stems from Gai Bryant’s compositions and arrangements which embody a knowledge of traditional Cuban styles integrated with years of jazz experience. The result is a maverick interpretation of traditional and classic styles that are performed with élan and spirit.
